There are reports floating around the internet that Remington has stopped production of Marlin leverguns for at least the remainder of 2011. This could be good news or bad news. If they are halting production to put things in order then I guess it's good news. But very soon it could become difficult to find a new Marlin.

Not my long range rifle but a reload question. Of course marlin has basically ended manufacturing 308 Marlin Express ammo. I have everything but the projectiles. Could I use Hornady 178 gr. A max 30 cal (308). Just looking for input. Of course it’s a lever action tube feed so that is a concern.

The 308 Marlin Express uses a different 160 gr bullet than the 30-30 does. The 308ME bullet has the cannelure in the right place for crimping and has a little thicker jacket to stand up to the higher velocity. I have personally seen the results of testing in 308 Winchester and 300 Savage cartridges.
