I can confirm that this is not true. Apparently, the quest three Mike settings have the levels way too high and hot. If you reduce them on the Quest 3, then reduce it in VRChat, and finally reduce the level in virtual desktop, the mic sounds just as good as the quest 2 mic. Unfortunately most people have not figured this out yet.
